Joe Garrity is a writer, director and editor whose projects span narrative, nonfiction and visual art.
His past work includes Lead Editor and Assistant Director of WATERGATE (Telluride, NYFF, Berlinale), a six-part documentary series by Charles Ferguson for A&E and History Channel. In 2017, he directed and edited the official music video for ALVVAYS - IN UNDERTOW, the debut single from Alvvays’ second album on Polyvinyl Records, as well as designed and performed live visuals on the band's Antisocialites tour in the U.K., U.S. and Canada using a custom analogue video synthesizer. His award-winning short film TWINSBURG (Taos Shortz, Napa Valley, Dances with Films), a narrative set in Twinsburg, Ohio during a live twin convention, screened at over 60 film festivals and garnered 12 top awards.
Joe has worked with Pixar Animation Studios, the Telluride Film Festival and NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Currently he is earning an M.F.A. in Writing from the University of California, Riverside through the Palm Desert low-residency program. In New York, he trains as an improviser in the Academy Program at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. He holds a B.S. in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley.
